Gwen and I are now equipped for summer. I have finished making us matching Aloha Eyelet Kerchiefs. This was such a fun little project and I learned how to crochet a chain for the ties. Yay for learning something new
I also want to say that Angelina’s work is amazing. She dyed the yarn with very short chains of color, so there is absolutely no pooling at all. Here I am styling my new kerchief:

Happy Memorial Day! As a quick little project I decided to cast on the Plumknit Eyelet Kerchief. Gwen loves headbands right now and she is missing wearing her pretty yarn hats of winter. So I purchased some of Cynthia’s Bamboo Yarn, handdyed by Angelina of Zen String. This is a ribbon yarn and I loved the novelty of knitting with something that isn’t round. Plus Angelina is one of my favorite dyers. Here is the yarn:

When Gwen saw it, she smiled and said “what pretty yarn.” That’s my girl
And here is the work in progress:

It has a crocheted chain to fasten the kerchief. I’m a bit nervous about that as I don’t know how to crochet. I’m really enjoying these sweet and simple projects though. I’m trying to knit down my stash too, cause it has gotten a bit out of hand. I’m hoping I can go for quite awhile without buying any more yarn. Hopefully it won’t be too hard to hang onto the wagon.

The fine ladies of the Tiny Lady Cooperative held a charity auction awhile back in support of a friend that was walking for Cystic Fibrosis. Andrea’s son was born with the genetic disorder. Her little boy is the cutest thing ever and has a smile that warms your heart.
I decided to go after the auction from Knit Candy. Cece was offering her Tip Divinity. This lovely invention is a beautiful way to hold your Knit Picks Options set, rather than the boring plastic case it comes with. I won and got to choose the fabric. I decided to go with a paisley to complement my current knitting bag. I just got the finished set this week and it is beautiful! Here are some pictures to show it off:

Cece’s attention to detail is amazing. The accessory bag even comes with a loop on the inside to hang the key from. If you are looking for a better way to store your needles, definitely check her out.

My friend Vanessa of Monsoon Designs is having a birthday sale in honor of her children. All of her yarn and stitch markers are 10% off till June 6th. Definitely check her out and buy some yarn. Shipping from Australia doesn’t take that long and it is a nice suprise when it arrives.
In case you need some tempting:

The swap that I sent out about a week and a half ago finally arrived. It had to travel from the U.S. to Canada, hence the long shipping time. Plus it was a mail holiday in Canada yesterday. Anyway it arrived and she loved it.

This past weekend was full of basement cleaning. We are preparing to list our home of ten years to move closer to my husband’s work. With that comes a need to purge “stuff.” We shipped our daughter off to Grandma & Grandpa’s house for the weekend and got to work. During breaks and downtime though, I found time to finish my second Gluttony Sock.

I just wanted to take a moment and wish everyone a very Happy Mother’s Day. I hope that you are having a wonderful day. It is a super rainy one here, which is a bummer because we spent the day yesterday building a swingset for my daughter. We did go out and sip and knit at our local Starbucks. The comfy chairs were not available but we had a good time anyway. Here is me with my daughter.

And my wonderful hubby knitting
