Aloha, a Big Bag of Yarn, and the Whole Farm
Gwen and I are now equipped for summer. I have finished making us matching Aloha Eyelet Kerchiefs. This was such a fun little project and I learned how to crochet a chain for the ties. Yay for learning something new
I also want to say that Angelina’s work is amazing. She dyed the yarn with very short chains of color, so there is absolutely no pooling at all. Here I am styling my new kerchief:
Love my self portrait?
Also today I picked up a big baby of yarn
I know, I know. I am on a self-imposed yarn buying fast. But this is pretty cool. My daughter goes to a Waldorf pre-school. Handcrafts are huge there and every student is taught how to knit. Anyway there was an article in the Winter 2008 issue of Living Crafts magazine about collectively knitting a farm blanket. A group of 12 knitters gets together to make individual squares that are then joined together. Each person knits 13 squares. Everyone gets enough for one blanket, plus an extra one to go into the school’s charity auction next year. Dh and I are going to be working on ours together. We are going to be working on the pond. I picked up half of the yarn we will need today.
It is Lamb’s Pride Worsted. I’m really excited to get working on this. We decided as a group to give ourselves a year to work on it. It is a group of mixed ability and the squares vary from a simple stockinette to intarsia. I know that my daughter is going to have so much fun playing with the final product.
