Reina Socks in Progress

Published by thiselfknits at 10:24 pm under WIPs

I started my Reina socks this week. They were from the first shipment of the 2008 Woolgirl Sock Club. It took me a few months to find the time to get them started, but I am really hoping to keep up with the two clubs that I am in this year.

I am really enjoying knitting this sock. It is on yarn from Mama Llama and is dyed in the “Georgia’s Inspiration” colorway after a print by Georgia O’Keefe. The yarn is super soft and it is a sportweight, so it is going pretty fast. Plus the back of the cuff is a 2×2 rib, so no complicated pattern to follow all the way around. The pattern calls for making this in magic loop, but I really enjoy using DPN’s so that is the method I am using. 14 stitches per needle when you start out and a little fiddling with how many stitches to put on which needle when you get to the gusset decrease. Other than that no issues.

I’m hoping to get at least the first one done this weekend and cast on the second. I still have to knit the second sock club shipment too. Plus the third Seven Deadly S(p)ins shipment comes next month, so I need to get knitting! Here it is in progress:

The picture is a bit dark because the sun was starting to set. The colors are much lighter than in the picture. I am finding my row counter to be an invaluable tool, as it is 10 row repeating pattern. With a three-year-old I have to get up often and would never remember what row I am on otherwise.

Here is a closeup of the really beautiful stitch marker that came with the set:

It is from Spindle Cat Studio on Etsy. She has some really beautiful things and you should check her out.
