August 2008 Woolgirl Sock Club
While we were gone on vacation the August 2008 shipment of the Woolgirl Sock Club arrived. It is just so appropriate and I kind of wish I would have gotten it before vacation. Click below to find out why.
The theme this month is the Dog Days of Summer. First off the yarn is from Madelinetosh. I do not have any yarn from her in my stash and have never seen it in person, so I was very excited to get something new. It is a superwash merino wool in a fingering weight. The colorway is Beach Towel. It is bright and fun and a perfect summer sock color.
The extras are super cool too. They are definitely what makes Jen’s sock club so special. Anyone can send yarn, but to put together a great theme every month with a pattern is why I will be signing up for this club again next year. That and the socks I have made so far are just awesome. Both pairs went on vacation with me and kept my feet warm on chilly mornings.
The kit includes not one, but two patterns. One is labeled intermediate and the other is adventurous intermediate. Both were written by Kristi Schueler. Another first as I have never knit from one of her patterns before and I am looking forward to something new.
There is also a tote bag, a water bottle, a tape measure, and lip-balm all imprinted with a cute bull dog and logo. There is also a stitch marker keeper from Spindle Cat Studio to put my growing collection of great stitch markers on. For fun there was also a mini beach ball (that has already spent some time in my daughter’s little pool) and some flip-flop erasers. My daughter is trying to find some little feet to put them on.
Again a really great kit and one that I am looking forward to starting. Have to get a few things off the needles first. One pair of socks at a time

Neato skeato! Lots and lots of purty goodies!
But, why only one pair of socks at a time? A pair in the car, a pair by the TV, a pair by the computer, a pair at work, . . . . The list goes on and on. One more reason to love Woolgirl.
LOL Joan. If only I had that kind of time. I tend to focus on one pair of socks and then one or two other types of projects. I love having variety on the needles.
